Library in numbers
Library lending departments
Search for, borrow or order books via the online library catalog.
- You can borrow 10 books for 4 weeks, with the option to extend (by phone, e‑mail or in the catalog).
- Some books are available only on site in the reading room.
- To use the collection, log in to the catalog with the details received when your library account was registered.
Library – where to start?
- Familiarize yourself with the library training.
- Fill in the form in the online catalog by clicking “Account” (the icon in the top right corner of the screen) and then “Register”.
- Activate your account within 21 days of registration by contacting us in person, by phone or by e‑mail ([email protected]). Please provide your student ID number and field of study.

How to order/reserve a book?
Step 1: Go to the Merito library electronic catalog page and log in using your library card number and password.
Step 2: Use the search tool to find the book you want to borrow.
Step 3: Check availability. If the book is available, click the “Borrow” option. If it is unavailable, you can reserve it.
Step 4: After ordering the book, you will receive a confirmation and will be able to collect it from the university library.
Extension (renewal) of a loan
- You have full control over your loans and can extend due dates without needing to visit the library.
- You can renew the due date of a borrowed book yourself by logging in to your library account.
- A renewal can be made up to 5 times, provided there are no other reservations for that book.
Book reservations
- Thanks to the online reservation system, you can track book availability and reserve copies that are currently unavailable (on loan).
- When the book is returned, you will receive an e‑mail notification and will be able to collect it from the university library.
- You can cancel a reservation at any time. If a book you have borrowed is reserved by another user, you will no longer be able to extend its due date.
Pickup and return
- You can collect books in person during library opening hours or via the book locker located by the reception desk.
- You can also return books outside library opening hours by putting them into the book drop located at the main entrance to the university.
Fee for overdue book return
If you return your books late, remember that there is an overdue fee of 0.60 PLN per day for each book.
You can pay this amount in cash at the library or by bank transfer to the account: BANK PEKAO SA O/TORUŃ 56 1240 6478 1111 0000 4949 2785 (in the transfer title, enter: library card number, first name, surname, student ID number).
Reading room
The reading room offers:
- computer workstations with Internet access,
- open access to books and journals arranged by subject,
- scanning facilities for readers,
- a relaxation zone and a bookcrossing shelf,
- the possibility to use chargers and headphones.
Journals
- the reading room holds specialist print journals from various fields,
- you can also use electronic journals available in database collections,
- online journals are also available to you – check them out!
Library databases
FAQ
Books can be borrowed directly at the library or ordered online via the library catalog. For online orders, books are ready for pickup within 48 hours and will be kept for you for up to 7 days.
If you are a student or a postgraduate/MBA participant at our university, you can borrow up to 10 books at the same time. Students and participants from other Merito universities can borrow up to 5 items.
You can extend the due date by logging in to your account in the library system, provided the book has not been reserved by another user.
Books can be returned in person at the library or by placing them in the library book drop.
Yes. Books that are currently on loan can be reserved online, and when the book is returned, you will be notified by email.
People from outside the university can use the library resources on site in the reading room, but borrowing is reserved for students and staff. For details, you can ask directly at the library.
The password for your library account can be reset by contacting the library staff or by using the password recovery option on the login page of the library system.
