What are "cookies" files?
"Cookies" files should be understood as IT data, in particular text files, stored on users’ terminal devices and intended for the use of websites. These files make it possible to recognise the user’s device and display the website appropriately, adapted to their individual preferences. "Cookies" usually contain the name of the website from which they originate, the period of storage on the terminal device and a unique number.

What do we use "cookies" files for?
We use "cookies" files in order to:

  • adapt the content of the Service websites to the User’s preferences and optimise the use of the websites; in particular, these files make it possible to recognise the Service User’s device and display the website properly, adapted to their individual needs
  • create statistics that help us understand how Service Users use the websites, which makes it possible to improve their structure and content
  • maintain the Service User’s session (after logging in), thanks to which the User does not have to re-enter their login and password on each subpage of the Service.

What types of "cookies" files do we use?
Two basic types of cookies are used on the websites: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies. Session cookies are temporary files that are stored on the User’s terminal device until they log out, leave the website or switch off the software (web browser). Persistent cookies are stored on the User’s terminal device for the time specified in the cookies’ parameters or until they are deleted by the User.

The following types of cookies are used on the websites:

  • “necessary” (technical) cookies, which enable the use of services available on the websites, support security or help maintain the proper performance of the websites, e.g. cookies used for services requiring authentication;
  • "analytics and statistics" cookies are web analytics files that make it possible to gain a better understanding of how users interact with the website content, in order to better organise the layout of our website. They collect information on how our website is used by visitors, the type of site from which users were redirected, as well as the number of visits and the time users spend on the site. This information does not record specific personal data of the user but is used to compile aggregated statistics on the use of the site. For this purpose, we use the Google Analytics solution.
  • "personalisation" cookies, which make it possible to “remember” the settings selected by the User and to personalise the User interface, e.g. with regard to the selected language or region from which the User comes, font size, website appearance, etc.
  • “advertising and marketing” cookies, which make it possible to deliver advertising content to Users that is more tailored to their interests

Do "cookies" files contain personal data?
Personal data collected by means of "cookies" files may be collected solely for the purpose of performing specific functions for the benefit of the user. Such data are encrypted in a way that prevents unauthorised persons from accessing them.

Deleting "cookies" files
As a rule, software used for browsing websites by default allows "cookies" files to be placed on the terminal device. These settings may be changed in such a way as to block the automatic handling of "cookies" files in the web browser settings or to notify the user whenever they are sent to the user’s device. Detailed information on the possibilities and methods of handling "cookies" files is available in the software (web browser) settings.

Limiting the use of "cookies" files may affect some of the functionalities available on the website.

What security measures do the Merito Group websites use?
The Operator’s websites are equipped with security measures intended to protect data under our control against loss, misuse or modification. We undertake to protect all information disclosed to us by Customers in accordance with security and confidentiality protection standards.

The website Operator offers Users the possibility to opt out of receiving marketing materials and subscribed newsletters. The Operator provides Users with the option to remove information about themselves from databases and makes it possible to stop receiving information sent by e-mail.
